This is the video for the title track from French artist Geste’s Jawbreaker E.P. The record was released by Berlin based Equinox Records a few months ago…a glitchy, bliptastic bunch of joints if we ever heard them! The video was edited by Vincent bitaud, and features footage from the 1992 Fuji Television show ‘Zuiikin English’, english lessons and aerobic excercises…The text is original…bloody Brilliant!

‘Notic Nastic’ are one of my new fave groups at the moment. They have successfully released two vinyl e.p’s on German labels, and are currently based in Berlin. This outfit is made up of three producers, originally from Berlin, New York and Scandinavia.

The producers have chosen to remain anonymous, their faces and names are unknown…leaving the music to speak for its self. Dark, slamming beats, crunky choruses and glitchy screech…these cats are fierce!!

The following two videos are so damn sick it’s not even funny…You should also check thier website, super future!

This is a pretty sharp vid from New York’s Michna who’s last record ‘Magic Monday’ was released on the Ghostly International inprint…the record is full of upbeat, happy electronic music and the cd art work is mega brill to boot!

Michna grew up in both Miami and New York City and has been making music since 1994 over the years he has released some pretty amazing records with a number of labels such as, Touchin’ Bass, Warner/Reprise, Domino/Mad Decent, Big Dada and Money Studies.

This video is for the track ‘Triple Chrome Dipped’, it was a collaborative effort between Michna and Philly-based video artist System D-128.

The video features footage “filmed entirely on a Hi8 analog camcorder purchased in 1989, the footage shows flashes of Adrian Michna’s youth from 1989 to 1995: the local pizza shop; the Metro North from Westchester through the Bronx and into Manhattan; skateboarding through Brooklyn; Michna’s little brother staging toy-robot wars; band practice; doing donuts in high-school parking lots.” (www.ghostly.com/artists/michna)

Nostalgia abounds….Check it!

We recently did a feature with Cork, Ireland based band ‘FRED’ and they mentioned another artist from their city whom they thought was rather nifty indeed, and we do too!

Ian Whitty is a super talented and industrious singer, song writer and all round charming character based in the South of Ireland, who releases some pretty, whimsical, sweet folk-pop music. His voice is unique, his lyrics pure poetry.

Whitty recently put together a clan of merry music makers – ‘The Exchange’, to create a deadly debut full length set to drop at the end of the month (Oct 24th).

The record, entitled ‘The Lucky Caller No.9’ was recorded in Ireland by top Irish Producer Ken McHugh (David Kitt, Autamata) and was mastered in LA by Dave Collins (Bruce Springsteen, Janes Addiction). The following video was for one of two singles released by the band. ‘Not on Your Side’ and ‘Houndstooth Shirt’ recieved national airplay in Ireland apon release and as a result, the band will be touring across the country on a mini tour this fall.

This fierce 22 year old Edmonton, Alberta native is about to embark apon his first headlining tour of Canada. Cadence Weapon A.K.A – Rollie Pemberton, initially made waves last year with his debut hip hop record ‘Breaking Kayfabe’, gaining the attention of mainstream and indie media alike.

With his truly unique Canadian hip hop vibes, he managed to secure distribution deals with some pretty sharp, big indie labels; ‘Big DaDa’/Ninja Tune in Europe and the UK, ‘Epitaph’/ANTI in the States and ‘Upper Class Records’ in Canada.

The sophmore album from Pemberton, ‘Afterparty Babies’ was recently dropped in Canada on Upperclass Recordings. The following video is for a track from the new record…check it out, and if you’re in Canada, go see this fella live when he hits your town!

Quinn Walker

He’s based in Brooklyn, New York. He’s the most eclectic, squirly and eccentric musician to cross my radar in ages, and his mad music has me totally hooked!

This video is for a track called ‘Save Your Love For Me’, which is from his record ‘Lion Land’ (Voodoo Eros, 2008). The tune features soaring guitar solos, screaming synths and high pitched singing, it’s pleasently refreshing and all kinds of fun!!

Rainbows, starry skies, monster paintings of naked women, floating skulls… this video has it all!

Manchester’s MC Envy has been a fave of mine for longer than a second…Bold, fiesty and straight up fresh, this ain’t no Lady Sov or Lilly Allan wannabe, Carving her own distinct path working with some of the UK’s deadliest hip hop and Grime producers (Kid British, Medasyn) and getting remixes booted in her direction from all angles (Robot Koch’s remix of ‘Tongue Twister’ is severly off the chain…check it!), this lady with her slick, firm spitting style and raw Northener edge is bound to be bouncing about in your headphones sooner than later…

Envy has been on the rapping flex since she was 16, now at 20 years old she is working on a degree in ‘Media & Communications’ and is currently writing for a summer EP and Mixtape release, and plans to drop a full length debut on her own imprint ‘China Bulldog’ later this year. Check out the video for her latest single ‘Tongue Twister’ a sharp track produced by Medasyn (Lady Soveriegns original beat master) and shot in an Industrial estate in Manchester.

Yeah, I sing the praises of this Camden, London based outfit a lot, but their so much fun! I mean who else can compare ‘plums to your mums’ in a track and get away with it?!
Man Like Me’s video for ‘Fruit’ is inventive, educational (these lads will have you making your families Sunday Roast in no time!) and so much fun…summer tunage….Check it!
