Metronomy
London’s Metronomy are about to embark on a tour across the UK and Europe, their infectious synth-pop (think Hot Chip, early Mocky or Ireland’s FRED) is sure to have people bopping from coast to coast. The band recently released their debut ‘Night Out’ on Rough Trade Records. The following video is for the single ‘Thing for Me’ and was directed by Megaforce.

The Chapters
I’ve
Been a fan of Ireland’s ‘The Chapters’ for a few years now, and have
been waiting eagerly for them to release a debut, and it’s finally going to
happen! On June 5th the lads will be releasing ‘Perfect Stranger’ on
Irish imprint 3u Records.
Last year the band opened for some major artists all over Ireland, including Neil Young and Chuck Berry. Over the years they’ve managed to gain a fan base in Ireland that is sure to trickle over to North American in less then no time.
Low-fi, heart warming, folk-rock…Check out the track ‘Heart of Glass’ on their space…lovely stuff indeed!

‘The Clips’ are a young Vancouver based band that got plenty of Pitchfork Media attention last summer with their debut full length ‘Matterhorn’ which was released on New York’s ‘Unfamiliar Records’.

Just released by VBS TV, the newest Black Lips video for the song ‘Short Fuse’ from thier latest record ‘ 200 million Thousand’. The cartoon was directed by the bands own member Joe Bradley and was animated by Chris Taylor….loads of fun…check it!! The Black Lips will be spending the next 2 months touring across the states…hit a show.

France’s ‘Krazy Baldhead’ has been a pretty busy fella these past few months, at the end of March his new E.P ‘Sweet Night’ will be released, and following that in early April his debut full length ‘The B-Suite’ will be dropped too, this release will feature not only Tes Uno but many other goodies including; Outlines, Beat Assailant, Big-O and Millie Yulia. Both releases will be dropped by paris based label ‘Ed Banger Records’ (Mr. Ozio, Justice, DSL).
Tes is a Brooklyn mainstay, a stream of consciousness styled MC, I heard first heard about him four years ago when he featured on fellow New York based DJ Raedawn’s mash-up, ’80 Minutes Of Stank Stank’ (Brilliant mix…you should check it!!). In 2006 the two MC’s worked together to release thier ‘American Assault Mixtape’ (also pretty deadly!). Tes is now signed to the UK’s Lex Records and is working on many other releases that’ll be available later this year.

This Ottawa based outfit will be supporting Fleet Foxes for a few dates in London and Paris at the end of this month, they will then take a jaunt across the UK in support of Elbow during March (Check Myspace for dates and cities).
The band released their 3rd record in the spring of last year entitled ‘Glory Hope Mountain’ which recieved much attention in the bloggersphere and beyond…upbeat horns, batty dumming, plucky guitar and screamy choruses, it’s a record full of soulful textures an auditory delight.

Montreal based Bajada released his sophomore record ‘Love shit’ earlier this month, an album brimming with heartfelt sentiments, broken dreams and sincere wishes…Jason’s vocals are hushed and sweet.
The following video was produced by NYC’s ‘Ghetto Future’ who also shot a pretty nifty video of Jason performing live near a body of water in New York last year…a talented bunch of folks indeed!

The smallest midget in the game is back! Miss Sovereign is set to drop her next record ‘Jigsaw’ in early April on her own inprint Midget Records and will also get global distribution through EMI Music Group.
From the sounds of it, the new record is going to be more pop flavoured and shall feature a lot more of Sov singing her little socks off (cue the auto-tuner!), as opposed to spitting her usual grimey rhymes…not sure how I feel about this fact, but there you go.
